Recruitment of Religious Teachers in Indian Army

Become a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Army as religious teacher (RT Pandit, RT Granthi, RT Maulvi and RT Padre)

Applications are invited from candidates for recruitment of Religious Teachers in the Army as Junior Commissioned Officer for RRT 59 and RRT 60 course for RT Pandit, Granthi, Maulvi nd Padre. Religious Teachers preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental/ Unit Religious Institution. Besides attending to the religious instructions and welfare of all rank and their families, the religious teachers ply an important role as counselors in attending/ ministering to the sick in hospitals, conducting funerals, reading prayers with the convalescents, visiting soldiers undergoing sentence etc.
  • Eligibility:
    • Age: The age of candidates for RRT course Ser 59 and 60 will be a under:
      • RRT course Ser 59: Between 27 and 34 years for civilian candidates and between 25 to 34 years for remustered candidates as on 13 Jul 2009
      • RRT course Ser 60: Between 27 and 34 years for civilian candidates and between 25 to 34 years for remustered candidates as on 31 Aug 2009
  • Educational & Language Qualifications:
    • Pandit: The minimum educational qualification for appointment as Pandit will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be qualified in Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit/ Hindi as one of the elective (main) subjects but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi are also eligible.
    • Granthi: The minimum educational qualification for appointment as Granthi will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be qualified as Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed B with Punjabi as one of the elective (main) subject but have not done Vidwan in Punjabi are also eligible.
    • Maulvi: The minimum educational qualification for appointment as Granthi will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be qualified as Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adib Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned or those who have passed BA with Arabic/ Urdu as one of the elective (Main) subjects, but have not done Maulvi Alim in Arabic or Adib Alim Urdu are also eligible.
    • Padre: The minimum educational qualification for appointment as Granthi will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be a person who has been ordained as priest by the appropriate eccleiastical authority and is still on the approved list of the local Bishop.
