Recruitment of Religious Teacher in Indian Army

Become a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Army as Religious Teacher
(RT Pandit, RT Granthi and RT Bodh Monk)





Applications are invited from candidates for recruitment of Religious Teacher in the Army as Junior Commissioned Officer for RRT 58 Course for RT Pandit, RT Granthi and Bodh Monk. Religious Teachers preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental/ Unit Religious institutions. Besides attending to the religious instructions and welfare of all ranks and their families, the religious teachers play an important role as consellors in attending/ ministering to the sick in hospitals, conducting funerals, reading prayers with the convalescents, visiting soldiers undergoing sentence etc.
  • Eligibility:
    • Age: The age of candidates for RRT course Ser058 will be between 27 and 34 years for civilian candidates and between 25 to 34 years for remustered candidates as on 24 Nov 2008.
    • Education & Language Qualification:
      • Pandit: The minimum educational qualification for appointment as Pandit will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be qualified in Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit/ Hindi as one the the elective (main) subjects but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi are also eligible.
      • Granthi: The Minimum educational qualification for appointment as Granthi will be graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition candidate must also be qualified as Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Punjabi as one of the elective (main) subject but have not done Vidwan in Punjabi are also eligible.
      • Bodh Monk: The Minimum educational qualification for appointment as Bodh Monk will be 10+2. In addition candidate must also be a person who has been ordained Buddhist Monk Preisthood by the appropriate authority. The term Appropriate Authority means Head Priest of the Monastery where the person has been initiated into Priesthood. The Head Priest should be in possession of Geshe (Ph.D.) of Khampa or Lopon or Rajbam with proper certificate from Monastery.
