The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2009 on 26th July, 2009 for recruitment to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The examination will be held at various centres across the county.

- Conditions of Eligibility:
- Age Limits: Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years on 1st August, 2009. The upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/ OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
